Our offerings are an act of worship. The offering during the worship service provides believers the opportunity to respond in gratitude to the grace, love, and mercy of God and to put their faith and trust in the Lord into action. The offering to God each Sunday is an act of worship just like confessing the Creed, singing the hymns, hearing the sermon, and engaging in prayer.

So glorify God in your body. For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that they may be fairness.
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold that which is truly life. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

I have had my doubts lately that the collection of offerings during the church service is unacceptable. I feel that money should not be handled in the church. If you give an offering before close of service it feels as if you are paying for the message delivered by the pastor.
Dropping it in an offering box before entering the church seems like paying an entrance fee. I regurarly give my tithe as well as a an extra amount for missions. Is offerings during the service really necessary? The answer that you give an offering in answer to the message from God and as a consecration also do not convince me.
Is offering during church services really necassary? Response from Rev. Richard J. That is inclusive of their tithes and offerings. These are all given to the Lord in worship of Him and in response for His blessings. Part of that work is the support of His workers. Other than bringing offerings to the Lord in His house as an act of worship I am not aware of where else I would offer them. Thank you so much for this important information.
