Development Economics: Theory and practice This is an excellent book for teaching masters level development economics, which I have done for most of the past 28 years.

While masters students need to engage seriously with leading journal articles, there is very much a need too for a text book, at the right level, which provides context, sets out the issues and places it in the bigger picture. Such a book has not really been available for the past 10 years. Professors de Janvry and Sadoulet's recent book is excellent and perfect for this purpose. It is written by two of the profession's leading names. It has a comprehensive coverage of main issues; and an excellent balance between needing to know and engage with latest techniques, but also needing to be aware of and informed about the big questions.

This book is a very good investment for masters level students and can help interest, inform and develop the next generation of development economists. One person found this helpful. It is ok. Report abuse. Excellent book. It's a good book, very detailed. It was bought for a class but the book has a huge excess of detail that isn't covered in the class. When it does explain topics, it does so in an easy to understand way but can be a little slow to get to the point.

Excellent, comprehensive review of dev econ issues. See all reviews. Back to top. Get to Know Us. Length: pages. Word Wise: Enabled. Enhanced Typesetting: Enabled. Page Flip: Enabled. Language: English.
