Living in a community, for example; a family, has some consequences. The consequences are the problems or conflicts that are possible to appear in term of communication among its members. There are some factors causing the problems.

Essentially, a boy feels that he is competing with his father for possession of his mother, while a girl feels that she is competing with her mother for her father's affections. According to Freud, children view their same-sex parent as a rival for the opposite-sex parent's attention and affections. The concept became increasingly important as he continued to develop his concept of psychosexual development. In the Greek myth, Oedipus is abandoned at birth and thus does not know who his parents are.

HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT AND CHANGES OF THE OEDİPUS COMPLEX

Oedipus complex , in psychoanalytic theory, a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex and a concomitant sense of rivalry with the parent of the same sex; a crucial stage in the normal developmental process. Sigmund Freud introduced the concept in his Interpretation of Dreams The term derives from the Theban hero Oedipus of Greek legend , who unknowingly slew his father and married his mother; its female analogue , the Electra complex, is named for another mythological figure, who helped slay her mother. The Oedipus complex is a psychoanalytic theory proposing that children have possessive sexual desires for their opposite-sex parent while viewing their same-sex parent as a rival and that the complex is resolved when children overcome their incestuous and competitive emotions and begin to view their same-sex parent as a role model. Established by psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud in , the theory is controversial. The Oedipus complex is named for the Greek myth of Oedipus , a Theban king who unwittingly killed his father and married his mother. Sigmund Freud used the myth as a parallel to his theory that children are attracted to their opposite-sex parent and feel hatred toward their same-sex parent.

DOI: This paper reinterprets the structural interpretation of Greek mythology presented by Leach and Levi-Strauss from a feminist perspective. The reinterpretation approaches the Oedipus myth and Freud's analysis of it from the perspective of Antigone, daughter of Oedipus and a hero of Sophoclean tragedy. Ancient Greek tragedy allowed a few mythic women the role of hero, although women in ancient Greek society were confined to the domestic sphere.

Electra complex

The Oedipal complex is a term used by Sigmund Freud in his theory of psychosexual stages of development , and is the generic term for both Oedipus and Electra complexes. The Oedipal complex occurs during the Phallic stage of development ages in which the source of libido life force is concentrated in the erogenous zones of the child's body Freud, During this stage, children experience an unconscious feeling of desire for their opposite-sex parent and jealousy and envy toward their same-sex parent. The Oedipus complex is a theory of Sigmund Freud, and occurs during the Phallic stage of psychosexual development. It involves a boy, aged between 3 and 6, becoming unconsciously sexually attached to his mother, and hostile towards his father who he views as a rival. In the young boy, the Oedipus complex or more correctly, conflict, arises because the boy develops unconscious sexual pleasurable desires for his mother. Envy and Jealous are aimed at the father, the object of the mother's affection and attention.

The contrast to the two Freudian ideologies, Oedipus complex and Electra complex is. the love of the parent to the children. This love parents.

Oedipal Complex

Mourning Becomes Electra. Who's Electra? There's not even a character named Electra in the play. Just what is O'Neill doing here? We know that Electra's the name of the sister of Orestes in Aeschylus's tear-your- heart-out tragedy The Oresteia, and that the play was all about the destruction of a particular family members of the House of Atreus.

In Neo-Freudian psychology , the Electra complex , as proposed by Carl Jung in his Theory of Psychoanalysis , [1] [2] is a girl's psychosexual competition with her mother for possession of her father.
